Default tranny fluid for '91 gs??

i ahve a quesation.. i am at work and if someone could give me a solid answer by 5 i'd appreciate it. my'87 teg takes 10w30 in the tranny...wierd thing about 1st gen tegs. okay the setup and the chilton manual are the sdame for my new '91 gs... i have only found material saying to put motor oil in the tranny as well... can this be true??? I called three places and all their litterature said 10w30...wierd..so i will go ahaed with the at unless someone can find me a page that rexplains my alternatives..

on the upside.. i can change my trannuyfluid the same time i change my oil with no probs and only 5 extra minutes.

let me know of there are safe!!!! alternatives to 10w30 that have been published sonce my ancient chilton manual..

That'd be Gear Oil, not motor oil. I'd hope anyways. Never heard of a tranny taking motor oil, not in new cars anyway.

I take it it's a manual transmission?

Ok, Wow, Amazing, I'm wrong. use motor oil.

got this from autozone.

www.autozone.com

'87 integra, manual tranny.

Current
Vehicle: 1987 ACURA INTEGRA
4 Cylinders 01590 1.6L FI CHANGE

TRANSMISSION FLUID TYPE

For your 1987 ACURA INTEGRA:

SPEC-FLUID-TYPE/WT SG - MOTOR OIL

WEIGHT = 10W-30, 10W-40
------------------------------------
So sue them if it's wrong. hehe.

Learn something new every day, I wonder if you could use synthetic? hehe.

BTW that's for "All Weather fluid type" and for "Manual Transmission"

For Automatic's it's

TRANSMISSION FLUID TYPE

For your 1987 ACURA INTEGRA:

SPEC-FLUID-TYPE/WT AF - DEXRON III

only use honda fluid because of it's additives they put into it. Oil can be used for a temp. situation. It most likely never cause a problem but why take the chance when honda doesn't charge to much anyways.
