Default 6 1/2 not loud enough

Is it just me or do you think that the speakers that came with the car sound alot louder and deeper? I bought some 6 1/2 infinity speakers for my integra and they sound like crap compared to the stock ones. This is not the first time, When i had my prelude the stock ones sounded better, as well as a maxima that I installed some in. Am I hooking these things up wrong? pos to pos neg to neg right?

one of two things is happening here, either they are wired out of phase or you are severely underpowering them. You have to understand that aftermarket speakers have a rms rating that is multiples that of the stock units, if you don't power them right, they won't sound right. It has been my experience that as long as I had an aftermarket head unit in place, any decent aftermarket speaker I put in was noticeably better for overall sound. Are you running off the stock head unit?
