How do you know when your clutch is goin
Are there any signs to know you clutch is going. My car is starting to chatter a bit when i take off in 1st gear. How long do you think I have left on it?
When they go, they go pretty fast.
When you take off, does it take the clutch longer to engage?
Can you still pop the clutch and get some wheel-spin? or (chirp)?
There are multiple parts of a clutch, the two main things that usually go are the throw-out bearing. (that's probably what you are hearing)
and the clutch plates.
If you've got a throw-out bearing going out, the clutch will be ok for a while unless it siezes. But if you have someone rebuild it, have them do the entire clutch, because they're going to charge you for the labor of tearing it down to get to the bearing anyway.

P.S. if it's a hydraulic clutch (is it?) then I don't have a lot of experience with them, besides on an old fiero I had for a very short time. usually it's the seals that go on these. IE. disengage the clutch, the seals leak fluid, and the clutch engages on it's own.
I have a little chatter too after I depress the clutch pedal in 1st and 2nd...
I also noticed that its not grabbing very well or even instantly when I shift fast after redline... And I only have 43K miles....

Ok so i looked under the dash again today and there is definitly some oil or black liquid where the metal piece that is attatched to the clutch pedal and going thru the fire wall. What is this metal called? How hard is it to be replaced?
