Default Springs w/o shocks??

I know that it's not an exactly good idea to lower your car on the stock shocks but I only have money for some springs and if they are only the sport version and not the race version, would I be ok with the stock shocks? I'm thinking H&R Sports.

You can drive around on the stock shocks for a while, but you should definitely plan to get upgraded ones ASAP. You can't really take advantage of stiffer spring rates unless you have enough damping to handle them.

i was driving on stock shocks for awhile after i got my sport springs. the shocks were good for a couple of months but you should definitely save for shocks after lowering your car.

how long do you think stock shocks will last on a lowered car?

I would imagine that you would have a bouncing ride with a stiffer spring and the stock shocks, plus it's easier to just do everything at once. Instead of doing it twice. I would just wait till you could get the money for both and do it do it at the same time.

Some springs will work fine with stock shocks (Comptech springs come to mind). Your ride quality with a set of non-aggressive-lowering springs and stock shocks will usually be very close to stock.

However, if you slam your car 3" on full race springs (with 400/500 springrates for example), your stock shocks will crap out very soon, and your handling will be akin to a bouncy 4x4.

It's not all that bad driving around on the stock ride height. You usually don't get harassed by kids looking to race. I was stock for 2 years, and sometimes I do miss being just another non-descript-Integra in traffic.

I was in the same position as you, but I decided to wait do it the right way, but using your stock shocks will work. I thought of it like this, I didn't want to install the springs and then reinstalled them again when i got my shocks. if you have air tools or spring compressor its alot easier. if you have to do it by hand then its going to be a pain in the ass.
