Default My new 03' RSX

Hey, I'm glad I found this forum...I've been looking for something like this since I bought my new RSX a couple of days ago on my birthday. It's the base RSX in black.
I have a question about something my dealer got me into during the final stages of the purchase. He sold me a case of Wynns +Plus+ Supreme oil additive. He said it would increase the life of the engine and that it acted as a "poor mans warranty" if anything in the engine failed due to poor lubrication. Of course, it wasn't until after I bought the stuff that I read the part of the owners manual that says additives should not be used. Bummer. What do you guys think? Should I use the additive at every oil change or just try and unload the stuff on somebody else? Thanks.

BTW, this RSX is my first new car and I love it.

Congratulations! I love the black RSX. as far as teh oil additive, I am not sure. I haven't heard anything about that brand. I work for my dad who owns an autoparts store and we carry quite a few different additives. I personally haven't put anything in my rsx (yet) I was thinking about adding something to my oil but just one or MAYBE two times. I am too lazy to read the owners manual so I don't know about what it sais.... I wouldn't use it just yet. Anyway, I wish I could be more help.

welcome to the forum

Congrats on the RSX, they're great cars and I used to have one myself (long story, and it was the Type-S model). Is yours the 5 speed automatic or manual? What color?

I wouldn't use any additives since Honda engines are so damn reliable. IMO, it's all a waste of money. You might want to invest in some synthetic oil after the first change, however. I would use it to protect the high revving engine.

Welcome to HAN

Welcome, nice car, love the black color. I would not use the additive at all personally. But, if you insist or just want to try it, do it after the first oil change. Whats in your engine now is a "break-in" oil. As long as you go full synthetic from your first oil change on, you will definately be ok.

I heard a lot of the additives are bs, are some companies are getting sued.

congrats man. I don't think you will need an additive. Especially on a brand new car. If the owners manual says don't add anything, then listen to it.

Post some pics of your ride. Did you get auto or 5-speed? Cloth or leather interior?

Don't use the additive. it could actually void your warranty.

The salesman was an idiot.

Default What Now?

Great, now what am I supposed to do with an entire case of this crap?
BTW, about the pics, I've got a couple but I don't have a website to post them to so I'm not sure how I'll get them to the forum since it looks like you have to do it through a website. Maybe I'll finally use that free website that all students at my university get...
