A few things...1) did acura make a GS model in '94 because I don't believe they did? 2) I am looking in a car mag and found a 94 teg with the GS-R rims/ spoiler and everything else (moon roof). Is this definitely a gs-r? They're selling it for 4995 so how many miles are on that engine , about 150000? more? less? Also, if this motor is in horrible shape do you think it would be a good deal to go after the car and drop a new motor in if the motor now is in horrible shape? How much would that new motor cost for installation and evrything? Sorry about the length but I knew you guys are the people to ask about this stuff?

There was no GS model in 94, the term used for the GS back then would be the SE- which has a B18B (143hp). The GS-R only comes in a 5-speed and has a B18C (170hp). Just because a car has GS-R rims and a moonroof doesn't make it a GS-R. Ask the owner what trim line the car is, and verify it with a VIN lookup on carfax.com. As far as buying a new motor and dropping it into a high mile car that's not a bad idea if you can get a steal on the chasis (and its in good condition). One other thing is I would stay away from someone else's project. Buy a car that's bone stock, it's less likely to be beat on. Always get the car inspected by a mechanic!

gsr rims, strut bar
b18c1 engine and tranny
cluster should have a redline of 8000 rpm
gsr's do not have a 3rd brake light in the hatch, it comes stock with spoiler!
but to be sure do a carfax though, good luck

 

they didn't make SE in 94, only in 95-96
