The wrestling world has reportedly lost another legend as Capt. Lou Albano passed away at the age of 76. Fans viewing Percy Pringle aka Paul Bearer will find a sadding statement of Pringles prayers that were sent out to Capt. Lou Alboano's family as of 8:32 am this morning. We have not yet gotten confirmation from Capt. Lou Albano's representatives, so until then this is only a report.
Percy Pringle aka Paul Bearer writes:
Captain Lou Albano, what a legend a dear friend. We visited many times during my years with WWF/WWE. In this photo we are backstage at a WWF event in White Plains, NY. He always told me he was a big fan of mine, and I certainly have always been a big fan of his. He will be missed. My sympathies and prayers go out to to his wonderful family.
Be Blessed.
It was first reported just yesterday by Dawn Marie's Wrestler Rescue that the legendary manager had fallen ill. The site said that it was not cancer, but was under hospice care. It is still not clear what happened at this point, but we will keep you posted as information because available.
The thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Capt. Lou Albano and all his adoring friends and fans.
Although a former WWWF United States tag team champion with Tony Altimore, Capt. Lou Albano found fame and even more success as one of the greatest managers to ever walk through the curtain.
He guided three different wrestlers to IC gold and over a dozen tag teams to the world tag team titles, most notably the Wild Samoans.
Capt. Lou Albano is a 3x PWI Manager of the Year (1974, 1981, 1986), WWE Hall of Famer (1996), Cauliflower Alley Club honeree (1995) and Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum inductee (2009).
