Default difference in these heads?

With a non-vtec dohc head (LS) and a vtec head (GSR), what is stopping someone (me in particular) from taking gsr cams and gsr rocker arms and putting them in place of my non vtec counterparts?

Obviously I would need the vtec solenoid and other such things as ECU, but is the head built that much differently?

I've never compared the two, but I assume that the plumbing is different for the heads because the VTEC head works off of oil pressure to engage VTEC. I read an article in Honda Tuning that explained VTEC really well and there's a lot more to it than just the cams and rocker arms...
