I just got a new cl 3.2 What is the first mod i should do for performance?

 

well, a Comptech header will net you about 30 wheel horsepower, so you'd be looking at 300HP (if you have a Type-S) with a simple bolt on. They're quite expensive though...about $1200. www.comptechusa.com

As always, try to upgrade your suspension with your engine..slightly stiffer shocks and springs that will lower your car slightly as well, and some anti-roll bars for increased stiffness. Add a set of Potenza S-03's, and you're looking at one mean 300HP CL-S

I assume you do have the Type-S if you're looking for more power...is it 6 speed or auto? What color? Congrats on a really great car :thumbup:

 

someone really sucks at math... 260 + 30 is only 290... not 300.

Try www.tirerack.com for some ideas on lowering springs. Go to the customizing section and look at their suspension stuff. They sell an H&R 'OE' spring kit for my car, which lowers it .75/.50 inches but makes the ride only slightly stiffer. Look for that for the CL. Those cost about $175. Tires are generally going to make a bigger difference than springs, so pick yourself up a set of high quality summer tires like the Bridgestone Potenza S-03's. They'll run you about $600 a set.

Headers on your car will also gain about 20-30WHP, so you'd have Type-S horsepower for about the same money you would spend for the Type-S upgrade. www.comptechusa.com really has the best stuff. They sell a supercharger which adds about 60+ horsepower, so you might want to look into that. Since the transmission issue has been resolved in the 2003 model year, that might be a good investment for about $4500. They also have a REALLY nice exhaust that is pricey but is only slightly louder than stock, has a beautiful look to it, and will give you some good horsepower gains. Some Acura dealers stock and sell their parts.

 

yeah I do... the type-s is 260 crank HP... adding headers will make for 290 crank hp... subtract about 20% and you'll have a rough estimate of wheel hp.

 

Sorry, but no. A header will add about 30 wheel horsepower to the J30A2, as I said. That would equate to at least 300HP. The CL-S has just about exactly 20% drivetrain loss, so it would be roughly 305 horsepower.

 

Get the Comptech springs. I've had the spring with stock shocks for almost 4 years now, no problems and the ride is not that harsh. Lowering the center gravity of your car will help in handling, it also will decrease brake dive/accelration squat. Plus, it gives the car a more aggressive look.

 

Sell it and go back to the first gen CL for real performance.
