Default Clutch Master Cylinder ?

I have a 96 accord ex with a 5spd.
Going home from work on Friday I pressed my clutch in to shift shortly after I started, and I heard and felt a crunch. My clutch still works in that it does still disengage the clutch from the engine, however, it doesn't feel right. I think it's not depressing the plunger as far. I think maybe it has slipped the adjustment nut further down, stripping the threads off the adjustment screw. Does this sound like a reasonable theory, or should I keep looking?

is this cable or hydraulic clutch? check first if you have fluid @ the clutch reservoir, if you do then do this steps with the clutch pedal and tell me when the noise disappers

pedal halfway (if noise disappers then its a marcel and fork problem)
pedal all the way ( if noise disappers, then its a pilot bearing problem)

or possibly, your clutch is worn out making a chatter so in that case, you will need a new clutch.

note: some tranny shops does not charge for diagnosis, see what they say.

The noise only occurred once. There is fluid in the reservoir. I've just ordered a new clutch master cylinder.
