Default 93 loses power...sometimes

My 93 Accord occasionally loses power when trying to accelerate. the problem begins shortly after starting, and appears intermittently. I can cruise along at the speed I'm going just fine, and then the problem will start and it feels a little rough, especially if I demand a little more power, it runs rough, and won't accel, like its being starved of gas, but getting enough to keep it going. Pushing the throttle further, between 3/4 and full solves the problem and the car gets a boost of power.
The problem soon disappears and comes back 2-10 minutes later. Its been happening for weeks, and I've just noticed the engine light come on once for about a minute. I'm guessing a sensor is malfunctioning, is there a way to diagnose this? the car has 260 k km,

Since the CEL came on at one point, there's a good chance it stored a code. Jumper the service connector and see if it gives you a code via the CEL and report back.

My 90 did the exact same thing. Mine was the cat. It started collapsing on it itself. Eventually it came apart and blew out the exhaust. I agree with a-series, run that cel first. More than likely its going to tell you exactly what it is. If it calls out the o2 sensor or somthing that wouldnt directly effect acceleration or drivability then I would try removing the cat. If you look through the honey comb and cant see light on the other side then its shot.
