Dumb to skip out on buying snow tires?

Default Dumb to skip out on buying snow tires?

This is my first winter with a rwd car and I live in southern NY.
Do guys with rwd cars think its a must have?

you will regret not having snow tires when you get a big snow dump. If you rely on your vehicle everyday I would rec. them. I am a snow tire slut though.

winter tires aren't a MUST have... they are good to have. safety ftw.

yeah, get some snow tires, especially if you're rolling on summer tires and not all season

Do you value life? There's no question that snow tires give a benefit, the question is "how much"? Upstate NY (what do you mean southern?) receives enough snowfall to warrant snow tires. I have a feeling (but no hard evidence) that snow tires will reduce collisions by 20-50%.

My opinion is to get them. Insurance companies recommend them because it reduces the chances of a collision (and possible injury to you, passengers, others).
