need help with swap
I finally graduated college and in a couple months I'll be able to afford a swap. I'm considering the JDM B18C or JDM B18C-R. I've got a few questions:
Whats the difference between the B18C1 and JDM B18C? Is it just the higher compression and different cams?
If I get the B18C and swap some higher compression pistons, whats the safest compression I can run on 93 octane?
Thanks for the assistance.

ok i have a b18c spec r, now i think my compression is at 10 or 10.5 to 1. i'll have to check on it. but you can usually go one point higher on the compression. the b 18c1 is a gsr engine with either 165 or 175 hp. it does not come with a limited slip differential. the b18c spec r comes with limited slip, and 200 horse power. another difference is that the type r has different cams and higher compression. another is it has different intake and exhaust manifold, you have to get a special flange for the cat also. i run 93 octane
not much difference between usdm and jdm b18c gsr swap. little bit higher comp. i beleive about .2 of a point higher, jdm itr has 11:1 wile the usdm has 10.6:1. cams are different as well as the manifold depending on year 98spec has a 4-1 with 96spec has 4-2-1 cast or 4-1 cast. different gearing as well98 spec has 4.7 FD
wile the 96 has 4.4.. gsr swap can be had with an lsd as well.
you can run on upwards of about 12:1 plus or minus depening on tuning. seen multiple and had experiance with my roomates 12:1 b20vtec, stock injectors and 91-93 octane and mugen chiped p28, now has hondata tuned and has no problems at all.

i cant say for sure. depending on the knock sensor yes. bu it may retard the timing. theres no point in running the stock ecu if your gona run 12:1 comp anyways. your gona need new ignition and fuel maps anyways. chiped p28 would be fine though,

i would say be prepared. if you have have money to build i dont see why there wouldnt be made an ex 250 for the hondata. for break on i was expect your stock ecu to be fine. not to keen on romping on the motor to much after break in. maybe the knock sensor will take effect. jus tnot sure on the risks your willing to take.
