Default acid smell from underneath the car

I have 02 RSX, 25000 km, a smell like rotten eggs is coming
from underneath the car when I stop, was told that it might
be faulty catalic converter,
Has anyone experienced similar problem?

Are you sure it's not coming from the exhaust pipe. The rotten egg smell (hydrogen sulfide) is a by product of the catalytic converter working on the exhaust gases. you may have a leak behind the cat if it is coming out from under the car. Have you installed a cat-back system, if so check for proper fit at the connection to the cat, and at the axle back section.

yeah you usually get that smell when breaking in the engine. i did for a while but it went away. and it looks like youve well broken yours in (assuming you use the full rpm range regularly). check the bolts under there and if it doesnt go away bring it in and ask acura.

if your car is stock and the cat is bad yes it should be. otherwise you have to make sure they cant prove your mods caused the damage.
