Default 2009 Fit is hitting dealers?

Its not very often a car comes out ahead of schedule. Anyone know the MPG figures for the 09?

Automotive News reports that the 2009 Honda Fit is scheduled to start arriving in showrooms as you read this, more than a month earlier than the planned October 1 arrival. Why the rush? Fit sales are up more than 70% this year in light of high gas prices and positive press; Honda has done everything possible to increase production, but dealers were still going to be sold out of Fits for most of September. Rather than lose sales, Honda sped up its product plans, getting the new Fit to market seven weeks ahead of schedule. This being Honda, we don't expect there to be "some assembly required," but even the best automaker can get in trouble when they're pushing too hard.

Near the bottom of the post.
27/33 for the manual Fit, manual Fit Sport and automatic Fit Sport.
28/35 for the automatic Fit base model.

While I agree it safer to wait a bit, the Suzuka plant is the only one that will build models for the US.

Also, that plant has been building 2nd gen Fits for continental Europe for about a year already. h:

european, what do they know about build quality :chuckles:

also it's not just the build quality, it's the stupid mark up that nearly every dealer is charging.

Absolutely nothing. Nothing at all.

I was pricing them a for a while there and it was really no cheaper for a used 07 than a new 08. you can actually find a used one for a higher price than a similarly equiped new one. its crazy.

the same thing is happening with a lot of compact economical cars. MINI is another one that sells higher for used than New.
