Default suspension question? >

someone posted this in the del sol forum and I thought it would be more likely to be answered in here? _what kind of suspension is on the del sol? is it wishbone up front? I read about a mid engine rear conversion and was wondering if anyone was farmiliar with it? like the option 2 model?
Now they're unibody cars with a complete engine cradle, right? I'm herd it wouldn't be that hard just to backhalf the car with tube and bolt in the cradle????? any comments would be apretiated. thanks

as far as i know the del sol uses the suspension of the civic.

now i take it the suspension changed for the del sol in 96 when the 6th gen civic's came out.

as for putting an engine in the rear of the car. sounds like fun. if you think making it tube frame in the back isn't expensive go for it. if you get can it to pass state inspection and so forth even better.

i'd put an engine in the back of a del sol if i knew how to weld. and had a madrel bending machine at home .

it can be done. I'd sooner buy an NSX though, it'll prolly cost less.

civic's used double wishbone suspension on the front and rear till the 7th gen civic's came out. they ditched the double wishbone suspension for the 7th gen's cause they couldn't fit it in with the smaller size engine bay.

so the del sols had the double wishbone up front and in the rear.

the new 7th gen civic's have macpherson struts in the front, and double wishbone setup in the back.

Now what I need to know is the arrangement of the engine mounting. Is it just a subframe/cradle that's bolted in? If it is, that would make backhalfing it easy and almost free. Does anyone know the arangement of the engine mount in a sol?

engine mounts are the same as the civic.

del sol is primarily a civic frame with del sol body.
