Bullet-proof vest aren’t the only barrier of defense for German policewomen who now are also being issued bullet-resistant bras.

The new underwear was developed after policewomen began suffering injuries from the plastic and metal parts in normal bras being pushed into their flesh from the force of gunshots hitting the officers’ bullet-proof vest during an attack.

Carmen Kibat, a Hamburg policewoman who organized Action Brassier, said the thickly padded bras adorned with the word "Police" are made from cotton, polyester, elastic and other synthetic materials, and does not have plastic or metal fasteners.

Nearly 3,000 front-line officers are now required to wear the bras in the line of duty …
Or anywhere else where their underwear comes under fire.
