I was driving down the street by my office and saw what I thought was a leaf blowing across the street. But when I got closer, it looked like it was hopping rather than blowing, so I swerved to miss it, but it was really close.

I parked my car and walked back to the spot, and sure enough, there was a toad in the road. He looked unharmed at first glance, but he didn't move when I walked up or bent down to pick him up. After I picked him up, it noticed one of his feet looked pretty mangled. I wasn't sure if this would be a permanent or life-ending injury, so I didn't kill him, I just put him in the grass in the shade.

I thought about it, but I figured a toad with a bum foot might still be OK out there. That, and stomping a toad did not seem like a fun proposition.

When it's frog season out here, the roads are covered in them. You can drive down a rural road and splatter 10+ on a single trip. They're everywhere. :run:

 

There was a HUGE toad in the road once when I was driving around at night. HUGE HUGE mother... I pulled over, hopped out of my car and coerced him back into the grass and out of the road. He made loud *SPLORT* noises when he landed. Took a couple pictures, me thinks, but I can't recall where they're saved.
