Default Awerbuck Shotgun 1 Class

Day 1: We went over lights, stocks, barrels, loads, etc.

Did a bit of a shooting and there was 4 hours of lecture at the beginning but I have the shittiest memory ever so don't expect me to remember everything.

Tactical Slings fucking break
Pistol Grip Good.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
You need a sling
You need a light
You need to pattern your gun. Some guns shoot a 4" spread at 25 yards, some shoot a 15" Decide how you want your patterns to be and switch ammo until you get what you want.
Finger off the fucking trigger, safety fucking on.
Do not take your sights off the target after you rack the slide until you confirm your target is dead.
Decide how you want to reload. Through the chamber or through the slide for the first round.
I decided to go with: Action closed, load from bottom, rack action, press check, load from bottom to capacity.
Do not look at the gun when youre reloading, look at your target. you can grab the shells between your index and pinkie finger and slide it down the trigger guard and it will slide directly into the magazine well

you will get made fun of if your phone goes off 10 times within 4 hours

shit breaks. more shits break more times.

also, dont be "that guy" we have about 5 of them that were late either in the morning, lunch, break, or they just suck at life.

theres more but i'm tired and gonna go to sleep now

Sling, check
Light, check

I never take my eyes off a target no matter what and I never turn the gun anywhere except where I want to hit which would be the target. I also shoot to kill not wound...a dead criminal can't sue you

A 4 hour class on shotguns, and its only day one? How many more are there? And do you really think you're learning anything you didn't already know?

we were there about 9 hours, 4 of which were classroom.

it's a 3 day class. today was day 1.

awerbuck is one of the best in the business and is pretty much the best in the business when it comes to shotguns. i wouldn't have paid $500 for the class had I not thought i'd get something out of it.

Seems like they teach you exactly the same stuff as we learned in the combat shotgun course when I was in the Marine Corps. Tactical reloading was cool, we learned how to reload with the pinky and index finger through the slide as well. It was nice, they just gave us these huge pouches and dumped as many shells in there they they could fit. It was a blast! (pun intended)

As I understood, Awerbuck has done some training in the past for the Marines. You can do some research, he's definitely got the experience.

About to head out for day 2. We're gonna be doing some "mindfuck" drills and some night shooting tonight.

as much as i dont like guns, i respect anyone who goes through the trouble of taking classes like this for "protection" instead of just keeping a handgun under their pillow like a dipshit

im curious what type of other people take this class as well, mostly normal dudes, cops, whackos, military?
