Default Black crap coming out of exhaust...

IN an earlier post, i mentioned that i was having injector troubles however, ive noticed that when i have my car parked and rev the motor a few times, i get this black oily like crap that comes out of the exhaust.. What is this and what is causing it? The fuel pressure is set to 37 psi.. i check the ignition timing the best i could and it seems to be pretty close... could like 1 or 2 degrees off cause this? Thanx for any info..

Black smoke generally means you're running too rich. Oily crap though...yuck. That generally means oil, and oil usually comes from worn rings. Although a turbocharger with bad seals will also blow oil too.

You're probably just running rich. What are your compression numbers?

Isn't that carbon from your exhaust? How old is the actual EXHAUST PIPE that you've got? I've got an old catback that actually came on the car when I bought it... and after I did the engine work it shot that black carbon shizz a good 3 foot strip across the garage floor lol I don't think it's much to worry about... U gotta think there's a fire inside the engine, then it blows the smoke out through that hole ;-) so if u run it a lot, if it has a lot of mileage, etc. I don't think it's a big deal... now if it's like... a brand new catback or something u may have some other probs... just my take on things I may be full of **** lol ;-)

hehe... well I mean really... This black stuff that comes out... It's pretty good size strip, so if it were anything to worry about like oil, and u ran it all day today, stopped and got groceries, picked up the friends, etc. you'd pull out the dipstick tomorrow and it would be bare. ;-)

Harry

P.S. I just saw on another thread people running ATF through their intake manifold and it supposedly cleans out all that shizz we're talking about... personally, I'll just let it fly out when I give it the gas LOL
