Passport Laws WTF?

Default Passport Laws WTF?

Im going to Canada in August and from the sounds of it Ill need a passport to at least get BACK into the US..
Is this true?

These laws keep changing every other day

keep changing everyday? It's recent

To fly you need a passport, to drive over you don't need one till later... I can't recall the dates these take effect though :/

Uh, I'm pretty sure its been true for a while now. I went this summer and it was required. A passport or a birth certificate.
Just go get a passport. Its always good to have around.

You don't have to at some gates.

I think with the mexico change it was a canada change as well.

Yeah as of recent it seems like there is always a news update.

Hmm Yeah Im thinking Ill need one by August.
They have these things that are new I think called Passport Cards, and they are cheaper than a Passport book, but you can only use them to Drive or if youre going by sea. I may just purchase one of those, since Im driving.

Anyone KNOW what the deal is with the Passport Card.
id like to get away with just having one of those if it's possible.

I remember going to Austria and some countries don't stamp passports anymore so I wouldn't mind just a card that I could put in my wallet.

Asked the US border guard on our way back in Sunday. He said you don't need one till June 2009. You do need your birth certificate though.

Yeah I knew that.
That pisses me off.
I dont wanna spend this money if I dont have to..then agian I dont wanna NOT have one and be stuck in Canada.
