What were those buttons for in older cars like the toyotas and such? They would be labled "sport mode" lol...just came to me...

if you talking about the auto trans button then yes it just turned the OD off

The 89 Camry V6 my friend drove had two buttons.

* Sport: On the console, it raised the shift point from about 4500 rpm to 6000 rpm.
* Overdrive Lockout: On the shift lever, it kept the transmission from shifting into 4th gear.

Power ECT buttons or whatever? Usually mapped the shift points to be more aggressive.

Could be electronic controls for setting shift points on an automatic.
