oh god ... it might have been a dance track off of DJ009's website.

I remember downloading full albums, one track at a time from re-linked GeoCities sites. If someone picked up the phone, my DL was torched. Also, I'd have the connection bomb out randomly.

a 3 minute, 128K sampled .mp3 would take me 35 minutes to complete.

downloading full cd's was a BITCH back then. I had 5 or 6 sites I'd go to just to find something "alive". The worst would be downloading a rare cd and have the links go dead half way though the process.

I hated Napster too. I couldn't download for shit because the upload would kill my bandwidth. Oh, also ... I remember when the record industry tried to sabotage Napster by flooding them with static tracks.

28.8k modem... i was on AOL95. had to dial up and turn off the call-waiting with *79 so i dont get disconnected h: back then, songs were in .wav format and it took about 30-35minutes per song... longer if they were recorded in stereo. i got most songs from email attachments that people would send out in the chatrooms.

It was off of Napster in my freshman year of college back in 2000, but I have no idea what it was. Probably some Korn, Rage, or Metallica or something similar.

I downloaded a lot that freshman year. I buy all my music now. I like having the real CDs... and I'm no longer a broke-ass college student.
