they are just recoded clips... same as if you were to record the radio and replay it later. I think they also have video podcasts... just started yesterday i like them. Plus on the Iphone i can get them without connecting on Itunes. so in the morning i download the new podcast and listen to it on my way to work. REally cool stuff

Oh, they're plenty popular. Almost every radio station I listen to (ESPN, misc sports, news) has them ... along with TV too (CNN).

I just downloaded all of the Harvard Business Review IdeaCasts from the past two years. Relatively short (between 10 and 20 minutes) with lots of good snippets of information for business focused individuals.
