Default Chrome coilovers?

At work today a beautiful 34 ford hotrod w/ a LS1 pulled up and of course i checked it out. I saw something i had never seen or thought of: chrome plated coilovers. They were beautiful and i could not stop looking at them. Common sense tells me it would have to effect them in some way (stiffer, or the chroming process does domething to their integrity) but i dont know for sure and would love to put this on my list, can anyone tell me anything on this subject?

i would think the "plating" would crack when the spring compressed. either that or it has a stiff spring that doesn't compress much

polishing might be a better option
