Default Planning prep for boost on my b18b, help!

Alright I've decided to just turbo my LS as-is, being the b18c would set me back 3g's for a slightly faster stock integra, and the LS-Vtec costs just about as much for a less reliable engine, being I'd have to opt for the cheapest path, I just don't have the $$ to make the build flawless...

My question is, with my LS's b18b just about to make the climb over 200k miles, what should I maybe adress first before boosting?

And as a side not I'm only hoping to push 250+ using a put together turbo setup, nothing over 300 as I hear the engine can't really handle that much for long in the current non-vtec state, and I can't afford a whole turbo kit for the little gain it gives you ..

start with basic maintenance. make sure the engine is healthy first. then boost away. tuning is key here.
