Default B16A CRX - Axle hitting shock fork

I have an 89 CRX Si with a B16A swap, and my driver's side axle is hitting the forward leg of the shock fork at extreme suspension travel with the wheels turned, and also during aggressive clutch release with the wheels straight ahead. Sometimes the contact is a quick series of fairly gentle love taps, at other times (sharp turn + suspension compression) it's about like a hard hammer blow. Is this normal for this swap, or is it an indication of incorrect axles or some other problem? I'm thinking that it can't be right, or I'd see more posts about it. Also, I'll say in advance that this is some dumbass kid's basket case project that I bought cheap and resurrected, so I have no idea what axles are in this thing.

Thanks.
