WTB: Diesel Rabbit or other fuel efficient car

I am looking for a winter car. I would PREFER a diesel Rabbit, but something else would work if it is cheap, fuel efficient, and reliable. Ready to buy.

I am in Northeast Ohio. Something close would be nice.

That is more than I want to spend. Nice car though.

I am aiming around 30+ MPG. Its for my commute to university.
