Default Home Theater Crew v. opinions please

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....#productdetail

Yamaha - 600W 5.1-Ch. XM-Ready Home Theater System

Any experiences w/ this?

Goals: Under 400, at best buy.

I'm leaning towards this, using Optical Digi audio f/ the HD-DVD and DV-R/TV. Thoughts?

hmmm ... for $352, that'll be hard to beat.

The newest receivers on the block have an HDMI in. Not only does this keep the signals all digital, your receiver will act like an HDMI switch for multiple devices.

If you have a TV with one HDMI in, trust me ... this is a nice feature to have.

Currently, my big screen is crippled with 1 HDMI for 4 devices.
- Xbox 360
- PS3
- Comcast DVR
- HD DVD player

There are switch boxes available ... but they're $100+ for a 3 port.

Yeah, I was looking for the HDMI input, but it throws the price about $100 higher for comparable.

Is the Digital Optical In gonna be good quality?

As of now, I have HDMI f/ the HD-A2 to the tv, and component f/ the Dv-R.

Edit: Also found a price-match for $320.

Optical = :thumbup:

Make sure to keep the cable's length to what you need. Also, don't kink or crush the optical line. Light can't pass though bends or breaks.

Again though, consider the HDMI version. If there's anything with 3+ HDMI ports for $100 more, that's a good deal.

Here's the one w/ HDMI:

2 ports for almost $200 more.

That was my thought. Other options w/ HDMI are including the dvd player, but its only an up-convert. So, i think this is the best choice.

Good stuff, downside I see is no HDMI and it is only a 5.1 channel system. The upside is the speakers and subwoofers can be upgraded.

I went with this for 160 bucks http://www.shoponkyo.com/detail.cfm?...il=1&ext_war=1

Like yours it has no hdmi ports and is only 5.1 channel, but my room is small so it doesn't matter.

maybe you want to try this http://www.shoponkyo.com/detail.cfm?...il=1&ext_war=1

Thats pretty tempting! Only drawback is they don't have it at BB. Putting it on the BB card w/ 0% interest and we get a bunch of rewards points b/c my B-day is in a few weeks.
