Ok, when I start my car it idles at either 2000 or 1600, or somtimes around 950, but when it does idle at 950 its chugging like a V8. Now that its starting to get a bit chillier it doesnt even want to turn over in the mornings little own keep its idle at a stop. So not only do I have to push start it now, but i gotta heel toe the bastard too.

My buddy says its a vaccum leak. My other buddy that I got the car from said when they guy did the swap he ran the vaccum lines like an american 1.6. I just got into this scene was purely VW, so go easy on me.

Just wondering if anyone knows whats going on , any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Vacuum leak is possible. But sounds like its intermittent. Engine should idle high after startup all the time. Just briefly though until its warm.
What are all these mods about ? Aftermarket stuff may give you more power but it is almost ALWAYS at the expense of driveablility problems. Also the aftermarket stuff unless rediculously expensive is almost never built to the same standards as the factory components.

If a performance cam has been added or if igniton timing has been modified for race fuel this would explain the problem.

Check the ignition timing and the fuel pressure. and if the fuel filter is not new change it. I have also seen a car with an improperly installed timing belt act this way.
