Default It's running...sort of

I finally got to turn the key on my car. It'll start up but it won't idle for shit. I think it's mostly due to my fucking massive injectors. The idiot light also came on "41 Primary oxygen sensor heater" so I must've messed up the wiring on the wideband a little. What concerns me is it sounds funny, almost like a belt rubbing but I can't find anything like that. On top of the trouble shooting and tuning I still need to wet sand and polish it. Hopefully I can get it to idle by the weekend so I can figure more out. I've got my work cut out for me :hs:

build recap

wiesco pistons
TT rods
KMS valve train
1000cc precision injectors
innovative LC-1 wideband
SVE 3-bar MAP
Tuning with Crome

humm sounds interesting.. what happens when it trys to idle?

things to try & set if possible:

valve adjustment
fuel pressure (about 40psi to start with)
shut your o2 heater off in your map

*i could send you the map i did for eric coz he's got 1000cc precisions in his but he's got a 2.5bar motorola map sensor so i'd have to change the map sensor in the map & it might throw it off quite a bit. It would probly run & drive tho.

lemme know whats up... i can probably be pretty helpful in this dept.

realized this after i looked at your map.. u've still got the stock map sensor in there.. I could convert it to a 3bar map, & it could be used as a base map.

I did the valve adj. before I put the motor in and double checked it yesterday.

I hadn't given fuel pressure much of a thought. I don't have a gage or regulator, I do have a walbro 255lph though. So my fuel pressure being a mystery probably isn't helping.

Is it common to disable the o2 heater in the map when running a wideband? I read that you need to disable the o2 to datalog with a wideband and that does get rid of the CEL. The led for the wideband isn't coming on so I'm not sure it's working right so I need to take care of that first.

Thanks for the offer on the map but isn't Eric running a B? I'm not sure it'd work to well on a D. The car starts up right away but as soon as it tries to idle down it falls on it's face. I really haven't tried any dataloging yet so I don't know if it's just super rich or what. I'm going to try and make sure I got the wideband figured out tonight and go from there. I may shoot a quick video so you can see and hear what it's doing.

man you don't want to know :chuckles: I guarantee you'll recognize it as soon as I post the vid.

I have multiple chips for when I'm tuning I make several small adjustments and burn on them on different chips. Which ever tune is the closest to what I want I use that map and go another round. The chips are labeled A, B, C... This was my A chip :eek3:

I hear funny buzzing noise, look down and see that. I was skurred for a minute. B worked just fine though. In fact I got it to idle pretty decent. I had to mess with the advance fuel multiplier offset. The wide band seems to be working and it was measuring around 14 on idle after it warmed up. My temp shot up pretty quick and I have a small coolant drip to take care of. Other than that it all looks OK so far.

video loaded

I'm going to run that turdbo for a little while and probably get something nice this winter.

I followed the directions on tensioning :dunno: it never hurts to double check so I'll do that. I was thinking it could be piston slap.
