Okay I just got a Directed 1100d amp I was told that in order for me to get the best work out of it I would need to load it down. I was looking into this and saw that it would push out 1100 watts at 1 ohm. How would I make that happen if I have two 4 ohm subs or 8 ohm subs? Thanks...

 

to get one ohm, you need 2 - 2ohm subs wired in parellel... 4 or 8 ohm subs wont work... with 2 - 4 ohm subs wired in parallel you can achieve 2 ohms...

 

first find out if the subs are DVC or SVC, dual voice coil or single vioce coil, respectivly.

with two subs you car get a final 1 OHM by using these:

a pair of 2OHM SVC
a pair of 4OHM DVC

you cannot get a 1OHM load with a pair of 8OHm subs, DVC or not.

 

Well with 8 ohm subs if I run them in a series will I have a 4ohm load? Who makes 2 ohm subs?

 

In series, 2 - 8 ohm subs would make 16 ohms... not what you want... 2 - 8 ohm subs in parallel makes 4 ohms...

A lot of companies make 2 ohm subs... Boston, Alpine... a lot of DVC subs are 4 ohms each coil... which means you can get 2 or 4 ohms out of them...

What subs are you looking at/considering?
