Default Vtec question B16 & B18C

Hey everyone, these are my ??'s ON the 1gen B16 was trying to figure something out. Doesn't Vtec kick in at 4500 & then another after say 5800 rpm etc.
My other ?? is on my 98 Gsr my Vtec engage at 4400 rpm & you'll here the other at 6000 rpm. Someone was stating on a stock B16 Vtec kicks in @ 5800. My 1gen B16 is chipped so my Vtec engage at 4800 rpm but can't tell about the second because of my e,i & header. Thanks for any imput.

stock b16's will engage at ~5800. stock b18c1's will engage at 4400 and the secondaries in the intake manifold will open at 5800. these secondaries are NOT part of the vtec system.

the only multi stage vtec's are for fuel economy.

only b18c1's and h22's have secondaries in the manifolds. b16's/b17's/itr b18c's have single stage manifolds.

Huh? :dunno:
Stock B16's engage VTEC at ~5700
Stock B18c's engage VTEC at ~5800
In addition the B18c has secondary IM runners, opened by the IAB system at 6000.

No Honda DOHC VTEC engine engages at 4400, let alone before 5k.
Engaging the VTEC before the designated point will decrease power output.

Werd, Snoopy is always on key.

The b18c1's low engaugement point is to compliment the dual stage intake manifold. Usually when you upgarde to a S2, or like single stage manifold the crossover must be raised.
