Default CEL 4 Question.

ok. so heres the problem. my car is throwing CEL 4(Crank Position Sensor). and correct me if im wrong, but isnt it the sensor in the distributor thats just gone bad......well my car is throwing the code every once in a while. my car runs like crap, it boggs, and wont rev past 3500RPMs. and like i said, it only happends every once in a while. so the question is that if its a sensor that has gone bad, would my car have the CEL on everytime i drive it? is their any other thing that i could check to get rid of that code? i read that when this CEL4 comes on you should replace the whole distributor. and if it only comes on every once in a while, then i was thinking it was something else. not just the distributor.

sorry if it sounds confusing, i dont know any other way to put it.

thanks.

Loose/dirty/corroded connections in the wiring can cause that. If you can find a flaky wiring connection at the distributor, maybe that's it. Good luck...

The sensor isn't available by itself, so if its actually bad, you need a new (or used) disributor.
