Default Opinions on ECU

I was broswing along JDMshit.com and found a few new ECU's for my 95 4dr GSR.


94-95 P72 Mugen 5700 9500
94-95 P72 Skunk2 5700 9500
94-95 P72 JUN 5700 9500
94-95 P72 RPT 5500 9500
92-95 P13 Spoon (JDM) 5000 8500
92-95 P13 Skunk2 (US) 5500 9000

*first rpms are vtec x-over and second is redline*

Whichi would you recommend? Anyone have exp. with any of those listed above?

So you just want to plug in a modified ECU and go, wonderful. What modifications do you have, my psychic abilities are not working today?

They are all a waste of money, IMO. Your car will run pig rich and there is no reason to run past the stock red line without upgrading your cams, IM and valve-train. If you do upgrade, it is best to tune on a dyno to your specific application.

Save your money for mod's that will actually benefit your setup.

I was just wondering, I'm making a spreadsheet on items and all so I was tryin to see.

put into that spreadsheet of yours a chipped and socketed obd1 ecu along with a tuneable software program like crome.

Im running a obd1 p72 skunk2 chipped ecu, 9500 rpm redline because my friend sold my non-chipped one . I checked the spark plugs for the AF mixture and they are a nice golden shade of brown. I researched and this means a perfect af mixture, so then I couldn't possibly run rich right??

Are you checking your plugs after a part throttle run (city driving)? Take your car as close to redline as you feel comfortable and check your plugs right after.

I believe you can just remove the skunk2 chip in that ECU and have one programed for your application. I think it's the same socket you would use for crome. No personal experience, but I don't see why they would use a different chipping process.
