My 1993 Accord LX stalls at stops only when the gas tank is half full or less and even thou it stalls at stops I could restart the car and it will run well till I stop again.When the gas tank has more than half a tank full the car does not stall at stops and runs great.I replaced the fuel filter,air filter,oxygen sensor,plugs,wires,distributor cap ,ignitor,timing belt,balance shaft belt in the last mounth and the car still stalls.If you have any solutions please post.Thank you,Paul.

 

maybe a hole in the fuel pick up??????? it just souds like fuel psi. or a problem with the idle control

 

Could the fuel pressure decrease when the gas tank lowers to half full ?
It only stalls when I stop. Could the problem be under the hood if all runs well with a full gas tank ? Should I remove the gas tank and check the fuel pump first?

 

i would check fuel psi at half full and full if it changes the fuel pump would be the problem(normaly fuel pumps dont go bad) i wouldent go to the truble of puling your fuel pump out is there a check engine light the idle air control valve might be going bad or you might have a stuck open egr

 

No there is no check engine light on . I checked for trouble codes and there is none and the check engine light does work. As soon as the fuel gauge reaches a certain level the stalling at stops begin.I set the idle at 850rpm.I have come across 2 other posted accord problems very similar to mine but they had no follow up solution.

 

fuel sending unit maybe?

 

fuel pump or the main relay(it controls power to the pump)or rust in the tank a bad senser(iac,egr,map,ex...)would throw a code.still check fuel psi at full and half full so you dont condem a good fuel pump if it is canging its the fuel pump.i have seen rust in the tank do some weard things go a head and pull the pump and check for rust or a hole in the pick up. your car is strange.

 

Thanks I will check for fuel pressure at full tank and half tank. I do think the problem is within the gas tank. For now I just refill the tank.I will post once the problem has been repaired.

 

cool talked to some other techs at work about your problem thay all said the same thing (rust, fuel pump, or a hole in the pump)let me know.i also looked for recals none and ther are no bulittens

 

I need help with my 91 honda accord it runs good but when i cut it off it wont start until about 3 to 5 sec. My fuel pump,distribitor,cap rotor button,coil ,module,sparkplugs and wires have all been change.My main relay works good and fuses is too, it also stalls sometime too can somebody anybody help me pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!
