Default Kayak shopping

This game is getting annoying

So today I think I found a pair of used whitewater kayaks I am going to pick up for a total of $500 h:

Perception Whiplash

And a Dagger Transition

Just waiting for an email back from the guy about the boats and if they are still up for sale or not and haggle a bit on em

I know I was looking for more a recreational kayak but I really want to do rivers and a bit more intense water. I will also end up getting a recreational kayak for general paddling with friends, but I just can't resist the rush factor.

I think I'll stick to recreational kayaking. That fast moving river shit scares me. :nervous:

I've done class III in my canoes without much of a problem. I don't think it would take much practice to go to class IV especially in a kayak.

Yeah my plan is to do a bunch of class II to get broke in a bit and I also need to work on rolls and recovery techniques before I go too big.

I want to head over to Idaho and hit the Lochsa which is rated as a class IV-V in the sprind and a class III in the fall so it should be a fun run once I get to that level. we also have the Rogue river here in Oregon which hits class III-IV with some class IV spots in it depending on where you drop in at.

For me to go Class IV I would need a different canoe, one of the banana looking ones, and there's not enough of that around here to bother. I'd also have to get airbags for the canoe as well.

YeeHaw!!

I don't think I could work a canoe in a class IV rapid situation, I just don't feel steady enough or in enough control of a canoe to do it.

I don't like the feeling of being trapped inside of a kayak, that's why I've always preferred canoes, I can jump out if I have to. That canoe would be fitted with straps for your knees to help you hold on and your riding on a saddle that you straddle rather than a seat. All the rocker helps with manueverability. The royalex construction material is pretty similar to that of the kayaks. If you were to cut it apart you'd find a layer of skin that's a PVC like material on the outsides and sandwiched in the middle is a dense foam.
