Sub/amp problem sub seems VERY weak/faint
First off i have a sony Xplod 12" sub and an xplod 600 watt amp
its run with 8ga wire from batery and 5 ga from ground.
ok as of yesterday i tried the sub on an existing system it worked fine...
today as of puting in this system it hardly hits at all so little that you would think its not on if you dont put ur ear next to it or touch the cone.
could this have something to do with the fact that it is on a 1965 chrystler?
i mean the hu works fine its a pioneer
also ... if i dont necessarily have an excellent ground would that do it?

idk what you mean by filters or how to set gain but... the connections are all good like i said aside from possibly the ground idk bout that though cuz it comes on... just not loud
i have it grounded on the chassis of the car but it is very rusted and it was hard to get the ground good enough to kick it on
thanks for quick reply

Man do yourself a favor now pull your ground off and sand where your grounding it to till its clean!!!!! Then before you reattach your ground put a little dylectric grease over the spot where your grounding it to, screw the ground wire back down. After thats done use a little denatured alchole or rubing alchol, clean the dylectric grease off thats exposed. Then shoot a little pant over it so it wont rust again. Too many times there been crappy grounds in this forum. If your gonna do somthing do it right the first time and don't continue to come back to it over and over and over. If ya don't do this you'll get static and your amp will cut in and out till finally somthing get F******. And yes also check your gains. Oh ya good place for a ground though.

try bridging it. there should be indicators on your amp where you connect your subs. something like:
Channel1 Channel2
(+)__(-)..(+)__(-)
.^-------------^
.......BRIDGE.......
connect them here. if it doesn't say, look in the manual. this will make your sub a LOT louder, just be careful not to blow it!

That wont work! he,s not getting any SQ somthing is not set right may be as silly as mentioned above with gain.
You could use a 1200 watt amp 2 channel (600 watt per channel)mono amp, hook it up two a 600watt sub. Pending the make of the amp it might produce around 350-450 rms(per channel). The sub being a single voice coil should hit hard if the subs any good no matter what. Meaning bridgein it wont do squat for him till its wired/and amps setting are right.
