Default I need H-A's expertise re: used ACURAL TL

Hello,

My sister wants to buy a used Acura TL for her first car (2nd car, technically, but who's counting?). I have been looking on craigslist for listing and found some decent ones. Could you guys let me know if these prices are decent and if not, what is a decent price?

To be honest, I have NO idea when it comes to car. I myself have bought an Acura Integra (but I felt ripped off after) and a new Honda Accord EX. But for some reason, I felt that if I had consulted with people before making an impulse purchase (I have a tendency to do that), I would have gotten a better price. So any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Coupe or 4dr??? Coupes will always be more fun than 4drs. (IMO) Also, make sure you ask if the car was housed in a garage. I'd look for those things, as well as the age of the person driving the car.

If you're not that savvy, though, you might have to have her go to a dealer and be more interested in a warranty, than the price.

Go and check out the cars...

Check to see if they're are any leaks, see if body panels are dented, bent, scratched... Check under the car too, check to see if all electronics are working, windows, PDL etc... too much to list....

If you're getting a 2nd gen TL, get a 2000+. The 1999's come with a 4-speed automatic, the 5-speed automatic sport shifts are much quicker.

Both transmissions are known for failure, but Honda has a 100,000 mile warranty on them.

It's way more than the tranny...the engine was MUCH improved for 2000.

Stay far, far away from the 1st gen CL.

The 2.2/2.3 F-Series models aren't bad other than being painfully slow.
