Default 1.7L Vtec motor

What do you guys think of the 1.7L Vtec Motors? My friend got one for really cheap. I guess it has like 127 hp and 114 ft/lbs. Are there any good mods to do to this motor to pick up power? I didnt even know they made a 1.7L, so I guess my question is, are these very common?

I had one for just over 2 years (03 EX, same motor you are speaking of). If you are using it for a daily driver and to run errands, it is a great car/motor to have. If you are looking to get serious performance out of it, it is very hard. There aren't a whole lot of parts out there and the ones that are out, don't help the power very much at all. There are few companies that make turbo kits for it (there are no superchargers for the d17) and that is your best bet for power. Good Luck!

What about wiring harnesses for OBDI to OBDII for this setup. My buddy has a 92 Civic, just dropped the motor in and wants a plug and play option for his computer. Anyone have any idea what he should do for a harness?

I'm not sure of anyone doing an OBDI to OBDII on this motor. Actually, I've never even seen someone swap this motor into another car (mostly becuse of the reasons I mentioned above). I would suggest looking for a company that fabricates them (like Boomslang) and speaking with them about it.

Also, I noticed that you are from Wichita. I live in KC, so not too far from you.

I was right!

you are refering to the b17a--

obd1 is the best for tuning, any mods that will fit on the b16 should fit on this, IIRC
