Default Teggy owner taunting fellow Teggy owner-What Gives???

I'm a bit purturbed about this so I figure I'd post what happend to me today.

I was on the freeway today, those of you from SoCal 605s to 405n, driving...minding my own business. As I was driving on the 2nd lane from the right on, I hear a car bounce their rev limiter so I glance over and see a fellow teggy owner. He had a clean car, silver '98+ GSR 2dr. I thought, 'nice ride'.

Well, he was in front of me in the fast lane so then I moved around an RV (VERY LARGE VEHICLES. I don't like being behind them.) and find the silver teggy in front. So as right before we merge on the 405n, this dude flashes his hazards. Now back in the day, late 90's, that meant 'let's race'. So I figured that's what he meant. Now, mind you it's raining and I would not react to such a silly invitation but was floored by the behavior.

SO. We're on the 405n. I'm in the 2nd lane from the left minus car pool, and he's one car length ahead immediate to my right. So there he goes again, rev's, hazards, slows down then inches close to my car. At this point, the rain got a bit heavier. I'm thinkin, 'dude, this is not the time, nor the place to be doing this' especially with HEAVY free flowing traffic in the rain.

What gives? Being a 6 mos young member of the these forums, I see that fellow teggy owners would have respect for one another. This dude was flat out the opposite. Sorry this is a non technical post, but wanted to share this and get any feedback on how you dealt with this.(do you try to smoke the car and leave it behind or ignore it) Thanks!

1st off, STREET RACING IS A NONO here
good way to get your post locked. BUT ANYWAYS, i just would have turned the music up and paid no attention. No matter the car, if a kid watches F&F he instantly becomes the best racer ever and hits the streets. I KNOW ITS DUMB and yes they are all around. What i would do is just boost your teg, take it to THE TRACK and get some nice numbers. Then next time you see the kid flash your paper at him and tell him to step down

No worries at all, this is a serious issue that merits discussion.

No matter time or place, don't give those idiots the satisfaction of goading you into a completely illegal and irresponsible "race". By giving those with poor judgment the "thrill" of a run, it just encourages the behavior.

Furthermore, it degrades our image as enthusiasts in the eyes of law enforcement and the general public. Worst case scenario, it could get to a point where people equate the model of car with the idiot-racer behavior, tarring all Integra owners with the same brush.

Reread the post... he's not advocating street-racing; he's asking how to handle the situation as a responsible driver.

Default street racing

I've seen the same behavior, but more ofton with BMW owners. I used to
have one and guy were always wanting to race. This was probably some
young guy with not much experience wanting to show off. Unbelieveable
that someone would want to race on those conditions. I drive those
freeways everyday.

Take care,

I get people like that all the time and I am in the same area as you. They think their car is the fastest thing on 4 wheels just because it has intake, header and exhaust. Little do they know that if I decided to take on their "challenge", they would soon realize I have a 250 whp motor powering my stock looking car.

Those people just bug me. I just point and laugh and then keep driving because I know I have nothing to prove to them.

I get this a lot as well. Happens to me a few times a month. I just ignore them and keep driving. It's not worth any kind of risk, especially with my wife and kids at home. You did the right thing as to not race. I haven't street raced or been to a street race in over 4 years now

Yes, drive responsibly. Apparently to some, this hobby doesn't equate to that because of the potential these cars have, be it mild mods to extreme ones or even appearence. Ignoring is the best option, in ANY circumstance.

Definately a young dude. I primarily stick to local roads because I work from home however this time around I was shopping for a car radio (laying down some finishing touches on the car. It has come a LONG way) and ran into this fool on the freeway.

That's where I'm at with this. It bugged me to the point I just laughed as I was driving where he was simultaneously challenging me. WHATEVER.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Much appreciated.

For some reason I draw attention from boners who own SRT-4's (those fuckers always seem like they have something to prove). & Nissan SE-R owners. It must be the 1BAD99I license plate, it does not mean anything though, it is just a plate.
