Default power antenna switch?

I drive a 94 ls. it has a power antenna, and i hate it. I never listen to the radio, so i really dont need it. It goes up when i turn the car on. i would like to install a switch to manually put the antenna up.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me how to install a switch, where the wire that runs to the antenna is, or point me to a walk through. I dont know much about the wiring so if you could, be pretty specific.

thanks everyone.

This is the diagram. The wire runs down the driver side under the panel in the door area. It's relatively easy to get to. Just make sure you get the right wire. ;-P

or if you have an aftermarket stereo ... (it's the lighter of the 2 blue wires) should have something along the lines of "antenna pwr" on it.. cut that... and just splice a power switch into it

is this the right wire. this is up under the dash, right next to the fuses. also is there a better place than this to splice the switch under the dash?

That looks like the right wire. Without consulting my Helms manual, I am not for certain. I spliced mine at the radio harness since I have an aftermarket head unit.

uhhhhh isn't that his fuel system relay??!

just look behind your stereo, you will want to mount the switch in the the liitle knock-out squares in the console anyway.

Test it before splicing! Grab a multi-meter, test it with the radio off (antenna down).... Should rest at 0V. Turn the radio on, if it switches to 12v its your acc, ign or antenna....try turning the radio back off and jumping an alternative 12v source (i.e. white wire in ignition harness) to it w/ the radio off. If the antenna goes up, your golden.

If not, do it the easy way... grab it directly from the back of the radio.

That is the wire that goes to the fuel pump (which happens to also be yellow with a green strip). The attenna wire shouldn't be coming out of the main relay.
