My son lives in Hollywood, but will be moving over the hill to the north.

He has an Acura and the check engine light just came on. I suggested tightning the gas cap, but if that doesn't work he will need to have it looked at.

Can anyone recommend a shop that won't screw him?

He works off of Rodeo in the B of A building (no he isn't rich by any means) and he could possibly drop it off and walk to work.

Get him to check the code.

 

Look in the weekender/pennysave/recycler. Lots of places that do decent work are constantly advertising and offering specials on general maintenance and repairs.
