I am having trouble putting front door speakers in my teg. I can't seem to get the sheetmetal screws to go through the sheetmetal. I got one of them go in but the other 3 for the speaker won't go through. They just spin. I checked behind the area and it isn't any thicker/obstructed or anything. Please help.

 

Get some self-tapping screws if thats not what you are using.

 

Are you using the stock mounting holes, or making your own?

 

I'm making my own mounting holes. I didn't think I had any drill bits but I found some, so I'm just pre-drilling the holes then mounting the speaker with the screws. Now I'm kinda having trouble getting the door trim panel back on though.

 

btw, pic of self-tapping screw or please describe. I'm pretty sure that's what these are. I donno, the guy at Home Depot suggested 'em.

 

A self tapping screw has a little bit on the end the "bites" onto the metal and goes through without a need for drilling first.

 

umm yeah...so i don't think that was the kind i was using.
