Default D series flywheel 22lbs to 8lbs....

Taking a flywheel I got for $10 on ebay to the shop to have it lightened. What's the lingo to tell the guy what to do? Just "Make it lighter? A certain thickness that goes along with the task? There's a place in Marina Del Rey that will do it for $30. Seems worth it.

So the flywheel being lighter is going to be better for the engine because it's turning less weight, correct?

Thanks again.

If anyone needs my old one when it comes off, let me know.

You cannot possibly lighten a stock flywheel that much safely.

That's a lame answer. One I understand, but doesn't help. You should refrain from mocking people.

If anyone can help me with that, it would be cool. I'm having the 5th gear from an lx put into my Si tranny and I was told lightening the flywheel would be a good thing to do. Any positive input would be cool. A good SAFE weight?

You can take prolly 4 pounds off it before I'd start worrying. You might as well ebay a Fidanza flywheel for like 160$, those weigh 7.5lbs.

yea just buy a cheapo lightend flywheel, youll be MUCH better off then using the stocker. lsdmotorsports.com has a good deal on a good lightend flywheel. Dont half ass things cuz you will definently regret it later, this is exspecialy true when you start talking about drivetrain
