Default skunk2 coilover popping noise

Hi Guys, I am new to this forum. I got a question and seems like no one could give me a correct answer. so may be you guys can help me out.
I have EG6, over a year ago, I put a skunk2 coilover with Tokico white on it. It was fine for about 6 month. Then soon, I started to hear some popping noise(when the car weight shift(like shift in gear or let go on the throttle) or go over a speed bump). Local shop told me I may have to change the little rubber inside the cap or go with a true coilover kits like Tein, but I am not sure that is the case? What do you guys think?

did you put some rubber between the top hat and the original cup? cuz sometimes, if the rubber is worn out from the original cup, metal to metal contact during weight shift or bump might make the noise.

i'd suggest taking it apart and check it over with the manual and see. perhaps theres something missing?

I read the Skunk2 manual. It said it doesn't need the rubber in it. I put the rubber inside the cap anyway(by the way, it is like 13 years old stock rubber). After it making the popping noise, then I just cut the rubber out. and it still making the same noise. Should I get a new rubber thing put it in the cap again?

yeah thats why they give you all those orings. youre supposed to use the right sized ones to take up the space between the shock body and the sleeve.

I know it need to put the right size o-ring which what I did. without the correct o-ring, it won't even fit the strut right. Like I said it was all good for the six months then it started to make popping noise.

I don't really want to downgrade my coilover to spring. Beside I do have a skunk2 launch kits(2 extra spring for the rear - 900lbs/ins) for my coilover which I use when I am on the track.
