1)you need to get an assortment of sand paper grits such as 400 800 1000 1500 and 2000. does it it have to be a certain brand of sand paper?
2)next you need to get a bottle plastic polish
3) rubbing compound (any recomended brands for items 2 and 3?)
Now for my understanding of the steps for wet sanding...
1) start to sand down your headlights in a linear motion with the lowest grit sand paper you have with the water running on it at all times for approx. 3-5 mins (or is there is way to check if you have sanded too much/ is there any danger of sanding too much?/when do you know to change grits? besides 3-5 mins of sanding....). Then repeat from lowest grit sandpaper to highest..
2) Next use some rubbing compound and apply them to your headlights (5-10 layers...this may sound stupid but how is each layer counted?)
3)Then finally use plastic polish and polish the headlights until they become clear..
and is there anything anyone can add to better clean the headlights? and do i need a UV protective clear coat? any input would be great thanks in advance

Here are some articles about wet sanding. I am thinking about trying it when I have an hour to waste.
