Default Will be replacing brakes myself...any helpful hints

I am going to be replacing the brakes myself but I'm still new to pads. Is there anything I should look out for?

Are you going to do the rotors as well? When you take off the caliper bracket, take the retaining clips off carefully and clean them. Also, the original pads will have anti-squeal shims on the back of them. Don't discard! Take them off, clean them as well, and use the stuff that comes with the pads to reinstall. Then, when you are ready to drop your new pads into your clean caliper bracket, put a bit of synthetic caliper grease on the end and top tabs of the pad where they will contact the retaining springs. Make sure your caliper pins are greased well and there are no tears in the boots that hold them in. Very easy job. Took me 2 hours to do all 4 wheels including replacing the rotors. Get a couple of cans of brake cleaner and spray everything down. Wipe all grease off rotor right before you reassemble and break in pads.

.....and make sure you have a clamp or big pliers to push the caliper piston back into the caliper before you reasemble the fronts. you're going to need to turn the rear caliper pistons inward on the rear calipers.
