Default Power Antenna + Aftermarket Stereo...

I have an aftermarket in my GSR. I connected the blue wire from the head unit that goes to the amp/power antenna(currently broken, but that's besides the point). When I turn on the car it would put the antenna up even if I had it on CD. Is there a way around this in some weird wacky way? I really don't want it up if I'm not using it. No sense in a power antenna if it doesn't go down when you're not using it, eh?

Check the other posts. There are explanations there to show you how to bypass the antenna wire. Personally, I hooked up a switch to bypass the antenna, that way I can still listen to the radio if I absolutely want to.

Yeah I just noticed those. I'm still learning the art of "search" . What about if I get an amp, because that blue wire is supposed to shut the amp off when the car/stereo are turned off.....So I'm confused about that part....unless the switch is wired from the antenna motor.....I assume that's what you guys mean, eh?

seems to be rash of these questions in the last week... yeah you split the wire before the switch so the amp is not effected by the switch.

I put mine in cause I knew my antenna was about to break. I use it like once a month so there is need for it to be constantly going up and down. also, it is a freakishly long antenna.

Most aftermarket stereos have a power antenna wire already on them so the antenna will only go up when you turn the radio on.

What type of stereo do you have eh? I know mine has an amp out. I don't think it has a specific wire for a power antenna though
