tranny swap auto 2 manual
I would really like to swap my tranny to a manual, but would like to know what kind of work I have ahead of me and to also see if anyone has any input from their own experiances. My present state is a 01 teg auto LS.
I was also wondering if anybody new of a good place to buy a tranny and also what kind I should go with. I would also like to sell my automatic tranny to cover the costs. If you have anything at all to contribute please do. I am growing tired of my auto.

Here is a list of things you will need to get b4 you can go ahead and swap.
5 Speed tranny (ls,gsr,b16,type r)
Shift linkage
Has Port mount for the upper part of tranny
Complete hydro system for the clutch
Clutch pedal
Brake pedal (optional) I cut my auto one
Flywheel
Cluch disk
pressure plate
Flywheel bolts (Auto ones are shorter)
Torque mount
Throw bearing
Half shaft ( 5 speed) you can use the auto but there is a trick to it!
Alex's you don't need you can use the auto ones
Ecu as well you can use the auto one
Now once you remove your tranny, you will need to remove the plate where the flywheel goes. Then you need to rip out the auto shifter(fun). Then install the hydro system, but there is a box where the clutch pedal will be going. Remove that and your good to go. Matter of fact dump the box. You will not need it that hooked up will not allow you to remove your key from the ignition. now at this point you can bolt up your flywheel, and clutch kit. Then mount up the tranny, run the linkage, hook everything back up. Note there will be 2 sensor plugs loose with no mates due to the new tranny having less sensors on it. Now there are 2 wires where the auto shifter was a (Black-Yellow) and a (Black-White) hook those up together so the car thinks your in park and allows the car to start. Now most people that DIY will not hook up the reverse light. I did! There is a skinny green wire and a skinny black wire hook those up the the sensor in front of the tranny. In any order all the sensor does is act like a switch and turns on and off the lights. Once all that is done. You can go for a ride. :P Now if your like me there will be a hole by the shift linkeage. Does'nt bother most but it does bother me. I got some sheet metal and sealer and closed that sucker up. Good luck with everything. Hope you enjoy your swap.
Someone should add this as a sticky!

Well I ended up Spending $360 on the clutch and mount because I got everything else from friends and such. But it took me about 6-8 hours to do.
You don't have to change the cluster (guages) or ecu. You can leave both stock. There are 2 wires and a box that is in the place of the clutch that will have to be jumped and box removed. NO WAY AROUND IT.
Ok so... I have the Clutch Master cyllinder and slave. I need to get pedals, a halfshaft, I am getting an older ECU w/ obd1 conversion so I can chip it, new gauges cause I'm picky, The tranny of course, and the complete clutch flywheel pressure plate assembly and shift linkage. Is that everything or do I need more than that? And can I take the upper mount out of a 5 speed teg from a junk yard or something?

Also, out of curiosity what were the major problems, if any, that you occured during this project. And is your manual exactly like it would have been from the factory or does it feel different?
